Change Is In the Air

Change is in the Air

January 20 to February 18 - Zodiac Sign: Aquarius - Element: Air - Color: Blue

"The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind." — William Blake

When I was in college the musical Hair was all the buzz. I remember going to see Hair at its Chicago production and being blown away by the lyrics and story. Since we are now officially in the "Age of Aquarius", I find myself humming the tunes once again:

"When the moon is in the Seventh House and Jupiter aligns with Mars then peace will guide the planets and love will steer the stars. This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius"—Hair

Things haven't turned out quite the way I imagined as a young adult. I have always been a "tree hugger". I now find it distressing at how many fewer trees there are to hug. Those of us who believe that the new millennium will bring "Harmony and understanding", are not ready to give up, not quite yet. We have a few years to go before our fate is decided, and now more than ever all humanitarians and rebels need to step forward and be counted. I can think of no better cause than saving planet earth for future generations.

"Sympathy and trust abounding, no more falsehoods or derisions golden living dreams of visions mystic crystal revelation and the mind's true liberation"—Hair

Today, the musical Hair is performed all over the world, which demonstrates that peace, love, understanding, freedom, and happiness are never out-of-date! This is the millennium of Aquarius, ready made for the quintessential optimist. Time to shed light where there is none. Time to confront all that is dark or repressed. Now is your time. If it is always darker before the dawn, then we are in for some major changes. We must understand the importance of working for the greater good, and for joining individual efforts together to create something greater than the sum of the parts.

"As our hearts go beating through the night, we dance unto the dawn of day, to be the bearers of the water, our light will lead the way. We are the spirit of the age of Aquarius"—Hair

Energetically speaking, turmoil is characteristic of the changing of the Ages as people struggle to adapt to these new energies. Turning on the light of self-awareness is the only way to transform the terror that is lurking in the dark places of our imagination.

"If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies." — Author Unknown

How can we apply these Aquarian principals to our daily lives. I think you know what I am about to say—become the instrument of change. Pledge to make yourself as centered and strong both mentally, physically and spiritually as possible. Centered, balanced and strong is the best way to weather any storm. Change is just that, change. Good or bad is strictly a matter of judgement. The ages flow through us like currents in the ocean of time. This is not a time for weakness. This is a time for our strength and humanity to be revealed. I feel blessed to be here on planet earth during this time. The entire history of mankind has brought to this moment in history.

"All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another." — Anatole France

I can think of no better way to facilitate change than to start a practice of pH balancing. We are only issued one "earth-suit", we should wear it with pride. Our earthly body is no different than the clothes we put on it everyday. If we want to look good, our body must be regularly cleaned, inside and out. If you are not currently tracking your pH regularly, this would be a good time to start. This simple tool (pH strips) works the same way training wheels do on a small child's bike, and does nothing more than teach us balance. Once we learn what needs to be done in order to experience balance, we never forget. Remember the feeling the first time you rode that bike without the training wheels? Balancing health is like riding that bike for the first time without the training wheels, only better. The best part is we never forget that feeling and sense of pride when we "get it". No matter how many years may pass without going for a bike ride we will always know how to be in balance. No Ph.D., is required to experience balance, nor to feel the difference balanced pH levels make to our health.

The potential of Hydrogen (pH) within our body is almost 100% within our control. One of the major cellular waste products in organic matter are hydrogen ions. These ions are responsible for changing the environment of the blood, mainly by making the blood more or less acidic. Too much acid can be very detrimental to the functioning of other bodily processes. Hydrogen is everywhere and is the most abundant element in the universe, making up more that 90% of all matter. It is the third most abundant element in the Earth's surface, found in water and all organic matter. Hydrogen is not the enemy, without it we could not exist—after all water is two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen (H2O). Combining hydrogen and oxygen is one of the best ways to remove acids in the form of excess hydrogen waste from our body. Oxygen binds with hydrogen and safely removes it from our body. Bringing in oxygen by eating abundant alkaline foods, practicing deep breathing and drinking plenty of alkaline pure source water is the best way to flush out the toxins created by our cells doing their job. It's our job to assist the function of the body by keeping the work area clean.

Overwhelmed with our mankind-created toxic environment?

"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves." — Victor Frankl

What better time than now to become aware of the body of water within us. Keeping our blood clean and pH balanced is as important as keeping the oceans clean to sustain life on our blue planet. Just as each drop of water within us determines our health, so do the choices each one of us makes determine the health of our planet. Aquarius, the water-bearer, refers to ideas and minds mixing freely not unlike raindrops that mix freely after they have made a rain puddle. This fluidity is an aide to creativity. What better time than now to cleanse both body and soul.

"Harmony and understanding, sympathy and trust abounding, angelic illumination rising fiery constellation travelling our starry courses guided by the cosmic forces. Oh, care for us; Aquarius."—Hair
